A few days earlier...
.
[Elisabeth] To create...*indistinct whispering*...will result in...
*hmm*... the incline here... which gives the cosine of...
...Eureka!
.
Elisabeth was standing in her room, looking over the notes scattered around in piles on the wodden desk inside her bedroom.
It was a mess. She generally kept her room tidy, but now it was in chaos. On top of all the paper piles laid a now finished blueprint for her new invention.
.
She readjusted her steel framed round glasses on her nose. Then a crackle from a speaker unit installed on the far end of the bedroom sent out an inviting, but commanding voice that caught Elisabeth's attention.
.
*crakle*
[Mom] Honey, come down, dinner is ready!
.
The voice was easy to identify, although it was not of the best sound quality.
.
She began to open the bedroomsdoor with her left arm, while using her free arm to wipe off some sweat drops off her forehead.
.
The bedroom lead out to a spiral staircase, her bedroom was part of an extension of the original house, so it was quite isolated from the rest of the house as a result.
Once downstairs, she walked first through a small corridor leading back to the original house.
.
Many people would call it a mansion, but Elisabeth hated that word. It seemed so formal, and she despised upper class conventions.
.
She walked into the main hall, there was grand pictures and artifacts nailed to the wall. Elisabeth always had to take a look at one item in particular.
A small golden cube, with various circular inscriptions. She had asked her father what it was for, but he didn't know either. Atleast that's what he told her... She wanted to hold it in her hand, but couldn't touch it, as it was enclosed in impenetrable glass on a podium, and the only way to open it was knowing the password to the security switch, which would turn off the sensor alarm installed.
.
She continued to walk through the main hall, finally reaching the dining room. Elisabeth stopped when she entered the room.
There was someone unexpected waiting for her in the room.
